Love And Loss

Steve Jobs (Stanford University)

My second story is about love and loss. I was very fortunate to find the person. I loved very soon. Woz and i started Apple in my father’s garage when I was 20 years old, and we worked very hard. In 10 years, Apple grew from 2 people toa a company worth 2 billion dollars with 4000 employees. We had just released the Macintosh a year ago, and I had turned 30. And then, the company fired me. You all must be wondering how I could be fired from the company I created. As Apple started to grow, we hired a smart person who I though would help me take the company forward. For the first year, everything went well. But after that, we began having disagreements about the future of the company. The matter reached the “Board of Directors”, and they sided with him. And so, at the age of 30, I was kicked out of my own company, which had been focus of my entire adult life. It was all over, and it was devastating. For a few months afterward, I didn’t know what to do.

I became a very public failure. At one point, I even thought about leaving the valley. But slowly, I realized that I was still passionate about the work I was doing. Despite what happened at Apple, my passion remained intact. They rejected me, but i still loved my work. And so, I decided to start again. At that time, I could not see it, but now I feel that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have happened to me. The burden of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again. I felt very light once more, and it was this freedom that led me into the most creative period of my life.

In the next five years, I started a company called “Next” and another company called “Pixar”. During this time, I met an amazing women who later became my wife. Pixar created the world’s first computer-animated movie, Toy Story, and today it is the most successful animation studio in the world. Apple took an unexpected step and bought Next, and I went back to Apple. Today, Apple uses the technology developed by Next. So, I can say with full confidence that if I had not been fired from Apple, none of this would have happened to me.

It was a bitter medicine. But in my opinion, a patient needed it. Sometimes life hits you with such a blow, but don’t lose faith. I can confidently say that I kept moving forward only because I loved my work. It is as important to know your love as it is to find your work. something you truly enjoy. Because your work is a very big part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. if you have not found it yet, keep looking, heart, you all know when you find it. And as with any good relationship, it gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking, do not settle. Thank You for Reading article.
